Thank you for the question as this is one that we get often. Our heavy duty benches and ADA benches hold roughly the same amount of weight when properly installed. The biggest difference is that our ADA benches meet all the criteria necessary for them to be installed where ADA compliant benches are needed. These criteria being:
1) 1.5" space from wall to back of seat
2) Ability to place the seat into the seated or folded position with the use of only one hand
3) Ability to place the seat into the seated or folded position without needing to bend over
If these conditions are not needed to be met, then the heavy duty teak benches will work just fine for any residential or commercial setting, as these benches do fold down towards the floor as well needing two hands to release the folding brackets.
